Shortly after midnight Co. 63 was alerted as part of the first alarm box to the 2300 block of Old Philadelphia Pk. in Smoketown for a house fire. Lancaster EMS Medic 6-1 was first to arrive with heavy smoke showing. Deputy 62 (Sherman) then arrived and declared a working fire. Tower 63 was first out of our house and on arrival the crew was split between interior searches and exterior ladders and ventilation. Engine 63-1 arrived and their crew took a line through the front door into heavy smoke and fire. Additional crews staffing both squads would also respond and work in various areas of fire attack and opening up. The fire was knocked within 30 minutes with units working extensive overhaul for several hours. Co. 63 returned around 5am. Co. 63 answered this alarm with 4 pieces of apparatus (Engine 1, Tower, Squad 1 and Squad 2) staffed by 18 personnel in addition to DC Keens responding in the Buggy and 3 Fire Police Officers. A big thanks to Co. 54 (Lampeter) for covering our station once again!!
