Friday morning around 08:30, Engines 63-1 and 63-2 were alerted to an automobile fire at Turkey Hill, 2000 Lincoln Highway East. Multiple 9-1-1 callers reported a well-involved engine compartment with proximity to the store.
Engine 63-1 was the first unit to arrive and confirmed the report. In seeing some extension to the overhang of the roof, the OIC of Engine 63-1 requested the full first alarm structure fire assignment be dispatched.
A quick knock-down of the flames by Engine 63-1’s crew prevented further spread of the fire. Some of the soffit and siding on the store had to be removed to ensure the fire had not made it into the roof line of the business. Once that was completed, the assignment was scaled back to the engines from 63, 62 (Witmer) and 204 (MTFR). The PSP Fire Marshal was contacted and is handling the investigation.
