After a busy weekend for the LFC, the calls and activities kept rolling in. Our week started off with a 4am wake-up call for a fire alarm at Evergreen Estates. At 7am, the volunteers were back on the street for a vehicle versus a building in the 1700 block of Lincoln Highway East. Truck 63 handled this run. The crew checked the building for compromising structural damage and with no collapse danger present, our firefighters cleared after notifications were made to township codes officials. At 09:30am, Engine 63-1 was on the street for a box alarm in Manheim Township. Engine 63-1 staged in the parking lot of the business and was released a short time later.
After all of this, our volunteers took time to meet with students from Mellingers Mennonite Pre-School for a fire prevention presentation. The kids were also treated to a tour of a fire truck and a show-and-tell of some of our equipment. Finally, for training, Lancaster EMS brought one of their ambulances over to the firehouse for some rig and equipment familiarization. Drill ended around 8:30pm.
At 3am on Tuesday morning we were back on the street for another fire alarm and then a medical assist at 8am. Some additional fire prevention details are on today’s schedule. As they say, “no rest for the weary”.
