Around 6:30pm, the first alarm was struck for the old abandoned Stehli Silk Mill on Martha Ave. in Manheim Twp. for a building fire. Initial reports were that multiple 911 calls were being received indicating a working fire in this old block-long structure. A 2nd alarm was sounded. Tower 63 with a crew of 6 was the 2nd arriving truck company and took the A side of the building while E631 with a crew of 7 (due on 2nd alarm) was 4th arriving engine and stood by to supply the tower if needed. Units discovered the fire was contained to vegetation on the outside of the building giving the appearance that the structure was involved and the box was reduced to first arriving units. Co. 63 maintained an additional 8 personnel in station during this incident.
