Around 1pm today, Co. 63 was requested to transfer an engine to the Blue Rock Fire Dept. Station 5 in Millersville while their crews worked at a house explosion in Manor Twp. Engine 63-2 made the transfer with a crew of 5. After standing by in Millersville for about an hour, Engine 63-2 was requested to respond to the scene for foam. Squad 63-1 and Foam 63 were also alerted. On arrival Engine 2’s crew supplied foam concentrate to Engine 905 who was using foam to try to fill up void spaces in the rubble where fire was still burning. The crew then went into the manpower staging area. Once it was determined no further foam or resources were required Co. 63 units were released. As of Sunday night, One UGI (Local gas company) worked was killed in the blast and 3 other utility workers were injured. Blue Rock firefighters along with Manor Twp. PD and Lancaster EMS were on the scene when the explosion occurred but no emergency service workers were injured.
