Around 1am this morning, Co. 63 was alerted for one engine to relocate to the Refton Fire Co. while they worked a fire which involved a barn and a large chicken house. Engine 63-2 made the trip south and only several minutes after arriving at Station 59 was sent to the fire scene. Once on scene the crew was sent to work opening siding on the chicken house so hoseline crews could gain access to the fire. The crew worked on the scene for about 3 hours before being relocated back to the Refton Station for stand-by where they remained until 7am. With the Live Burn all day yesterday, this fire overnight, and 2 calls Sunday morning the men got very little sleep and were grateful the rest of the day Sunday remained quiet. Over 19,000 chickens perished in the overnight fire.
