Today, Engine 63-1 and Truck 63 participated in a rural fire ground drill that was hosted by our neighbors at Witmer, Station 62.
Units were dispatched to the 2000 block of Pennwick Road for a simulated barn fire. The farm is just about 2000’ from the roadway so water supply to the location will be difficult should there ever be a fire. Therefore, this training was pertinent.
During the training, Truck 63 was placed near the barn and Engine 63-1 was utilized for a fill site at an alternate location on Willow Road. Multiple area tankers were used to shuttle water to and from the dump site at the end of the driveway. The water was then drafted out of ports-tanks and sent up the farm lane being relayed in the middle by two pumpers.
The drill ran from 0800 until about 11:30. We appreciate Station 62 extending an invite to us for the event, we’re happy we could partake in the training.
