At 12:20 this afternoon, the Lancaster County 911 Center began receiving multiple calls of an automobile accident with entrapment at the address of 1646 Lincoln Highway East in the “Bridgeport” section of the township. The LFC along with Engine 62-1 (Witmer), Rescue 48 (Ronks), Medic 06 (Lancaster EMS) and the ELTPD were immediately started toward the scene.
The police department arrived first and confirmed one patient trapped inside a taxi that was overturned. On the arrival of Engine 63-1, the crew immediately began stabilization of the vehicle and prepared to deploy the hydraulic rescue tools. Engine 62-1 was assigned to fire suppression standby and assisted with hazard control. Rescue 48’s crew arrived and assisted with a roof removal and dash push to free the trapped occupant. In all, five vehicles were involved (four of them were parked). The sole occupant of the overturned taxi was transported to the local trauma center for evaluation. The cause of the accident is under investigation. We would like to thank all the agencies that assisted us at the scene. Photos are courtesy of John Fazekas.
