Lafayette Fire Company delivered a STEM-based, hands-on experience to nearly 30 local children ages 10-14 to learn all about the first responder world.
The camp was fully supported by grants from both Lancaster STEM Alliance & The First Responders Children's Foundation, donations from local businesses, and valuable time and expertise from local mutual aid first responders (Police, EMS, EMA, Hazmat, and Fire Companies). Mutual aid companies are first responder organizations that help support one another on emergency scenes, and during this camp they are helping to support the emergency of declining volunteerism and identifying the first responder world as a career aspiration for our youth.
Countless volunteers from the surrounding community and from these organizations ensured that the children received a top-notch experience from registration to food to equipment to expert demonstrations and more. Lafayette Fire Company wants to express the most sincere gratitude to all the organizations involved & to the children and families that participated in our camp. Lafayette Fire is proud to host this camp to help all of our mutual aid in the county inspire the youth and their families to serve! We are already planning for next year! Scroll down for photo link.
