Today was a historical day for the LFC. For the first time ever, nine members assisted the Witmer Fire Protective Association with their triannual Ox Roast fundraiser.
Due to the COVID pandemic, a potential staff shortage was forecasted by the WFPA administration. Additionally, a leak was found in the station’s 34,000-gallon cistern and emergency repairs were required so there would be water available for the event. Earlier this week, the LFC was contacted to see if we could lend any assistance for the event. Without hesitation, several members stepped up to assist our neighboring company.
Our crew was spread out between assembly lines and food prep and worked for roughly 4 hours to help get 3000 dinners out to hungry supporters. It was a privilege and honor to be able to serve side-by-side with the Witmer community to support the fire company. We greatly appreciate the opportunity to help and we look forward to participating in more events together in the future.
