The Lafayette Fire Company wishes to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Lancaster County 9-1-1 Dispatcher, Alyssa Warfel.
Alyssa suffered serious injuries in a motor vehicle accident late last week and passed away from those injuries yesterday morning.
In her final stage of life, she still found a way to help someone in need by donating some of her organs so that another person will live.
The emergency services has been in Alyssa’s family for decades. Her mother is a Lancaster County 9-1-1 dispatcher and her grandmother retired from the 9-1-1 center a few years ago. Alyssa was Dispatcher #1, which was the same number her grandmother was assigned while working there.
Dispatchers are an integral part of our first responder family. They are the first people to answer a call for help, and we count on them every time we go out on a call. Times like these are when the emergency services for the entire county feel a tremendous loss.
Please keep Alyssa’s loved ones and our county’s 9-1-1 dispatchers in your thoughts and prayers.
