This evening, Company 63 conducted Rapid Intervention Training (RIT) at a recently acquired structure in our run district. Firefighters crawled through numerous obstacles while following a handline to reach a “downed firefighter”. This type of training would simulate a firefighter who was once working to attack a fire and became trapped or disoriented while doing so. The Rapid Intervention Team serves as a rescue team dedicated to rescuing downed firefighters, and is an important role on the fire ground. Therefore, these types of training are crucial.
The building once was the “Star Buffet” but will be torn down in the near future, as the property will be repurposed.
