LFC members were kept running yesterday with six runs. The calls started at 12:03 hours with a street assignment for a gas leak in the 600 block of Millcross Road. Companies 63, 204 (MTFR), 61 (Upper Leacock), and 62 (Witmer) were dispatched for an outside gas line that was struck by construction crew. Engine 204 was the first unit to arrive and confirmed a 1″ line that was hit. Companies secured water sources and monitored the area with gas meters while UGI took care of controlling the leak.
Between 13:30 and 17:00 the LFC would handle two fire alarms, a medical call and an investigation all within our district.
At 17:24 hours, LCWC dispatched Companies 63, 62 (Witmer), 41 (Bird-In-Hand), 48 (Ronks), 61 (Upper Leacock) and 6 (Lancaster EMS) to the unit block of Harvest Road for a house fire. Crews found smoke showing from a 1.5 story single family dwelling. Engine 63-1 dropped a 5″ supply line from a nearby hydrant and the crew stretched 1.75″ attack lines into the home. The crew encountered a heavy smoke condition from a fire in the kitchen that had been knocked down. Companies opened up and checked for extension and then ventilated. The assignment was scaled back after a short time and the fire marshal was summoned for the investigation.
